Perfect Day

So I’ve been in Minnesota for about a week now, and I am loving it! I have had so much fun, especially today. I felt like sharing.

I got up kinda late, then had lunch. Then i shot a pellet gun for the first time! It was a lot of fun. Im not a bad shot either….

We then headed out on the boat to do some kneeboarding and tubing. I love kneeboarding. Im trying to get down this trick where you turn through 360 degrees. Its kind of hard, I’ve only pulled it off twice, the other attempts normally end in a wipeout that hurts. Tubing is also really fun. The friends im staying with got a new tube that fits two people, which is super fun. My friend and I took a ride on it today that ended with us both getting flung like skimming stones across the water (which kinda hurt).

We headed back to have dinner then went out on the lake again for some fishin’. None of us caught any keepers, which is unusual as the last few times we went out we were pretty successful. For example, we caught three 3lb bass a couple days ago (which taste great btw).

Anyway, today was perfect. I am so so so so so so so so so so so so thankful for the generosity and kindness of my friends; they are so awesome for letting me stay, eat, and have fun. Thanks guys!

More to follow :-)…….

I’m on the plane!

I’m on the plane!

So EXCITED!

So tomorrow is going to be the first day of an awesome two week vacation to Minnesota. “Minnesota?” I hear you ask, “Why in world are you going to Minnesota?” Well, we have some awesome family friends that have an amazing house on a lake , and they are gracious enough to let me spend two whole weeks there! The also have two boats, tow-tubes, waterskis, kneeboards, ATVs, go-karts, golf carts, and a bobcat (the tame type). It’s going to be a lot of fun! I attached a few pictures from when I was last there in the summer three years ago so you can see the craziness, and I will see you all in a couple weeks!

“Et tu, Brute?” & Eukaryotes

I gave up at Day 19 with the 30 day thing, which gives me more freedom to choose what I want to write about. It was an awesome idea to get me started, but I want to have more choice in my topics from now on.

Summer assignments annoy me, slightly. I mean, I get the point of them- to keep minds fresh over the summer and cover basic material- but they still annoy me. I drew the short (or maybe the long) straw this summer as I got assignment both bio IB and English IB. The bio assignment is a 23 page review and IB prep packet, and the English one is a bunch of summary/commentary notecards on common illusions. Being a science guy, I’m definitely more interested by the bio assignment. Good news is that I’ve completed the English work (minus copying down half of the cards), which leaves just the bio to complete. 23 pages is a lot of work, especially when you ‘lose’ the work from sophomore Bio H. So to all of you sophomores, DONT THROW OUT WORK. It makes things a lot easier if you have it safe someplace.

I feel a lot better after writing down my workload. I have an awesome vacation to look forward to at the end of the week, which I will write about tomorrow. Special thanks to Sensei Kevin Mahn the Great for giving me the idea of writing about my summer plans. Check his blog out here.

Day 19: A Talent of Mine

My talent is singing. I am in both the concert choir and chamber choir at my high school, and enjoy performing! Below is a video of me from freshmen year doing a solo. I have definitely improved since then (!)

Day 18: Whatever Tickles My Fancy

I’ll tell you what tickles my fancy- the new iPhone 4! The new cameras and high-rez display make it a very appealing upgrade. Only problem is I am not eligible for an upgrade until February. However, my mom is eligible, and so I think she will “donate” her upgrade status to me so I can get my grubby little hands on it all that much sooner! So thanks mom- you rock.

Day 17-An Art Piece

I consider the Walt Disney Concert Hall to be an art piece. It was designed by Frank Gehry, and is located it LA. My family and i often go to it to hear the LA Philharmonic or the Master Chorale, and the design of the building amazes me every time.

Day 16- A Song that Makes You Cry

Your’s to Hold, by Skillet. There are so many different ways to interpret this song, but any way you slice it, it packs a punch full of emotions :-D

Day 15: A Fanfic?

Wow, it feels like I only skipped my blogging duty for a day or two, but its been a week! How’d that happen? I guess it probably had something to do with the end of school fast approaching and all the hubub that created.

To be honest, I have never read a fanfic, in fact, I didn’t even know what it was until I asked somebody. So this is a pretty empty blog post. At least you all know I’m still alive though.

Day 14: A Nonfiction Book

I guess my favorite nonfiction book would have to be the Bible. I’m not going to get all preachy on you guys, but I really think its a book everyone should at least look at, even if you don’t believe whats in it. As a Christian, I believe the stuff in it is real and is from God, which is kinda neat. Its like God had a notepad and just wrote stuff down, and it turned into the Bible. I mean, imagine if your favorite celebrity gave you the equivalent of his or her thoughts- it’d be pretty cool right? That’s how I feel about the Bible. You should check it out some time :-D
